The Acapulco 5K International Swim was held for the eighth consecutive year in the Mexican state of Guerrero.

More than 600 competitors gave their best effort to traverse from 'Hamacas' Beach to 'Icacos' Beach in the Bay of Santa Lucia.

The warm waters of the Bay of Santa Lucia become the stage for one of the area's biggest swimming competitions for both the five-kilometer course for adults and for the 1.5 and 2.5 kilometer races for the juveniles.

For the second consecutive year, Arturo Perez Vertti, a representative of Mexican state Baja California, won the competition after a flawless race in terms of organization and security. The weather and family atmosphere helped the proper development of the competition for the swimmers.

Vertti Perez held a spectacular duel with Andres Olvera, also from Baja California, who finally arrived in second place. Third place went to his teammate Martin Vazquez.

In the women's category, Ana Patricia Bear, also from the Baja California team, won first place ahead of Ayumi Macias, from Aguascalientes and Alexa Vazquez from Baja California.

The support of the authorities of the State of Guerrero, both of the Department of Tourism Development and the Department of Civil Protection, were immense, ensuring the safety of participants.
