Earthquake Hits Taiwan

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake hit Hualien, Taiwan around noon on Thursday.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the quake struck some 36 kilometers northwest of Hualien city on the east coast, at a depth of just six kilometers.

The island's meteorological authority put the quake at 5.6 magnitude and monitored the epicenter with a depth of more than 15 kilometers.

The tremor could be felt across the island, including Taipei.

So far, there's no report of damage or casualties.
