Israel Launches Air Strikes on Gaza

Israel's Air Force launched two air strikes in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night.

The move was in retaliation to a Palestinian rocket and mortar attack on southern Israel earlier in the day.

The Israeli F-16 jets hit open spaces in eastern Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip shortly before midnight.

There have been no reports of casualties or damage.

On Tuesday afternoon, a rocket launched by Palestinian militants from the Gaza Strip exploded in southern Israel. No one was hurt.

The air raid is the first of its kind since Israel and Hamas reached a truce in November last year following a large-scale Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip.
