Eight car bombings tore through mostly Shiite areas of Baghdad on Monday, killing at least 34 people and wounding 155 others, an interior ministry source said on Monday.

The attacks were frequented by civilians are the latest sign of anti-government protests and the war in neighboring Syria grinds on.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks, but the al-Qaida front in Iraq was responsible for such massive attacks in the country, raising fears that the terrorist group and other militia could return to widespread violence.
