Chinese telecom giant Huawei has brought its newest smartphone to Spain.

Huawei says its Ascend P6 phone is the world's thinnest.

After its global launch in London last week, Huawai's newest smartphone has been officially unveiled in Spain.

Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica and Huawei co-presented the device in Madrid on Tuesday.

The phone is just 6.18 millimetre thick and weighs only 120 grams. It has a 4.7-inch touchscreen and boasts a technology called "Magic Touch", which improves screen responsiveness, even when users wear gloves.

The phone runs on the Android operating system.

Movistar, a mobile phone company owned by Telefonica, will sell this new phone in Spain as of July 8. The contract price is 14.52 euros a month for 24 months.

Huawei hopes the phone can help it catch up with rivals like Apple and Samsung.

The Chinese company is the world's sixth largest mobile phone maker and it's trying to make it to the top three.
