World Cup update-Germany, Brazil to play at semifinal

Added On July 5, 2014

Now for the latest on the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

On the first day of the quarter-finals, Brazil came out on top with a 2-1 win over Colombia... While Germany defeated France 1-0.

The two winners are now set to meet at the semifinals on Tuesday.

Germany became the first team to make the semifinals after claiming victory over France 1-0 on Friday.
Germany center back Mats Hummels scored a header following a freekick cross from Toni Kroos in the 12th minute.
The chances for France to equalize in the rest 80 minutes were few and far between, with German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer providing his team with another world-class performance.
By winning the game, Germany became the first team in history to make the final four at four consecutive World Cups.
Later on Friday, five-time champion Brazil defeated its South American rival Colombia, with two goals from two center backs, Tiago Silva and David Luiz.
But despite the win, Brazilian fans were in no mood to celebrate due to the injury of their top star Neymar. It's been confirmed that the striker will miss the rest of the World Cup games after suffering a fractured vertebra.
