Houston Marathon 2015

Around 25,000 runners took to the Houston streets on Sunday to take part in a half marathon held in the city.

While competing for the prizes, they are also running for charity.
The 2015 Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon attracted crowds of spectators, who are lining along the routes to cheer for the runners.
After 2 hours 8 minutes and 3 seconds, Ethiopian runner Birhanu Gedefa crossed the line first at the Houston Marathon.
It's the seventh year in a row that the champion won by an Ethiopian runner.
The performance of the Ethiopian athletes is so excellent that they claimed all the top three titles in the event.
On the women's side, Yebrgual Arage, also from Ethiopia, won the champion with in 2 hours 23 minutes and 23 seconds, registering the second-fastest time in the history of the women's event.
Houston held its first marathon in 1972 with 113 runners participated.
Several of them even had to stay after the contest to wash the dishes left by the participators.
After more than 40 years, the event has grown up to be one of the world's best marathons and attractive for professional athletes and amateur runners alike.
