HK panda becomes world's oldest

Hong Kong's female panda Jia Jia is officially recognized as the "Oldest panda ever in captivity" and "Oldest Panda living in captivity" by Guinness World Records.

Jia Jia is one of the resident giant pandas in Hong Kong.
Turning 37 years old, she has been officially recognized as the oldest member of the species in captivity in the world by Guinness World Records. 
The record was announced Tuesday when Jia Jia celebrating her 37th birthday with three other pandas at the Hong Kong Ocean Park.
The previous record holder-- giant panda Du Du died in 1999 just short of reaching 37.
