China beat host Japan 3-1 and won its fourth women's volleyball World Cup title.

It was also the first World Cup for the Chinese women in 12 years.

The Chinese team crushed Japan on Sunday to win its fourth women's volleyball World Cup title and secure a berth at the 2016 Olympics.

Zhu Ting received the Most Valuable Player award after having 23 kills and four blocks to lead the Chinese team to the victory in the last match of the tournament.

Serbia finished second followed by the United States in third.

China's victory comes two years after Jenny Lang Ping, known as "Iron Hammer", took over as head coach.

Lang Ping led the Chinese to two World Cup titles as a player in 1981 and 1985.
