Tibet in southwest China is aiming to build itself as a new site for alpine skiing.

The sport is gaining popularity in China, which is to hold the Winner Olympics in 2022.
Tibet's first group of professional skiers are now in their first training session in the region.
For many, it could be a one-in-a-lifetime experience.
Putting on their equipment, Tibet's first professional skiers embarked on a training trip never attempted before.
The 11-member team trudged all the way up a 6,000-meter-high mountain as no mechanical assistance such as a lift is available.
Although the team tried out their skills before, this is the first time that they have trained in Tibet.
The region known for its snow-covered mountains plans to make alpine skiing a new tourist attraction. And these professional skiers will take fans slide down from 5,000 meters above sea levels in a sport event this October.
