"I think it has just only begun, that we change the structure of, you know, tourists come to Thailand. And we know Chinese tourists is a large number. (We use that for this amount?) So, that's why we want to introduce golf and diving in the package for foreign tourists to Thailand, in order the change the proportion of Chinese to be more quality and focus on sports tourism more in the near future."
During the event, Thailand's Ministry of Tourism and Sports unvailed the plan to turn Thailand into a sporting hub in southeast Asia, as well as to add more quality experience for tourists, such as golf, diving, cycling and auto-racing.
SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): KOBKARN WATTANAVRANGKUL, Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports
"I do believe that the sport we have selected will become popular very soon. Because it's the same thing in Thailand. If you talk about cycling 3 years ago, things maybe different. But, just within 1 or 2 years, there has been a big change. And it's a big change not only in big cities, but all the cities in Thailand. So, I believe it's going to be the same thing as in China. Marathon, you don't need anything. You only need yourself, good health and spirit."
