Ukrainian president to make official visit to Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will make his first official visit to Malaysia from Aug. 3 to 5, the first visit in the history of bilateral relations of the two countries, said Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

Noting the visit marks elevation of ties between the two nations, the ministry said Poroshenko and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak will exchange views on a range of global and regional issues of common concern, said the ministry.
Both leaders will also witness the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and treaties aimed at further promoting cooperation between the two countries, it added.
The press release provided by the ministry did not specify the details of the agenda, but expectations are high on whether the two leaders will talk about the shooting down of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in July 2014.
An investigative report concluded last year that the plane was downed by a Russian-made Buk missile, but did not say who fired it.
After Malaysia, Poroshenko will continue his trip to Southeast Asia with a state visit to Indonesia from Aug. 5 to 7, during which he will meet with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
