Egypt's President Meets UN Chief

Egyptian president and visiting United Nations chief vowed Wednesday to continue cooperation to solve regional problems.

Egypt's Foreign Minister told press President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He expressed his readiness to cooperate further with the UN.

Sameh Shoukry said Egypt supported the peace process in Syria and stressed the importance of the Syrian opposition at the Geneva peace talks.

The minister also said that parties must reach a peaceful solution that meets the needs of Syrian people.

UN Secretary General Guterres said Egypt is a central player in the Middle East and an essential contributor to the solutions of regional problems.
