A U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter has crashed onto a golf course in southern Maryland, leaving one crew member dead and two others injured.

The UH-60 Blackhawk crashed around 1:50 p.m. near Leonardtown, a small town of 3,000 people, in Maryland.

The injured crew members were airlifted a nearby hospital in Baltimore. One is in a serious condition and the other is in a critical condition.

It is not yet known what caused the accident. An investigation is underway.

The incident comes less than two weeks after a military jet crashed into a wooded area just outside Washington D.C. The pilot, who was on a training mission at the time, safely ditched the jet, escaping with only minor injuries.
