A new international business council has been set up in Ukraine, bringing together business associations and chambers of commerce from six different countries.
Representatives from China, the US, Germany, Turkey, France and Ukraine have signed a memorandum for a new joint business council at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kiev.
UCCI President Gennady Chizhikov addressed the ceremony, saying the new council's main aim is to improve the business environment in Ukraine, so as to attract fresh investment and contribute to the country's economy.
He said the council's goals are to improve the conditions for independent business in Ukraine, improve the dialogue between businesses and the government, and protect the business interests of foreign and domestic investors in Ukraine.
Officials said the Ukrainian government is strongly backing the new international business council.
Business associations from Britain and Austria are also expected to join the council in the near future.
