China-Russia ties grow stronger

Xi's Russia tour was aimed at building stronger bilateral ties.
 
It's his sixth trip to Russia since taking office, and the third meeting between the two heads of state this year.

PEOPLE-TO-PEOPLE EXCHANGES 
 
Student exchanges between the two countries involve over 70,000. 
 
And the number is expected to reach 100,000 by 2020. 
 
In Russia, Chinese students make up 10% of international students. China has now exceeded Belarus and become the second largest international student source country. 
 
BILATERAL TRADE
China has been Russia's largest trading partner for six years. And Russia is a major source for China in terms of energy and high-tech products imports.
 
China's General Administration of Customs said China-Russia trade reached 32.8 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months this year, a 33.7 percent growth. 
 
FINANCIAL COOPERATION 
 
The Central Bank of Russia has opened its first overseas office in Beijing. 
 
Similarly, China has also set up a RMB Clearing Bank in Moscow.
