China-Asean ties bring prosperity

An international seminar marking the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN was held in Jakarta on Friday.
At the event, China's ambassador said he would like to see even more partnership and cooperation in the region.
The Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, Xu Bu, says China and ASEAN seek to enhance strategic partnership to a more closely-knit community of shared destiny.

"It needs us to focus on exploring synergies between the Belt and Road initiative and ASEAN Vision 2025, improving connectivity, deepening the production capacity cooperation, promoting trade and investment, and reaping the benefits of the upgraded protocol of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA)."
Xu says China-ASEAN should stay tuned to peace and development to strengthen the partnership, and make joint efforts for common development through win-win cooperation. 
Meanwhile, ASEAN Deputy Secretary General Mochtan is also hopeful that the increased co-operation will bring prosperity to the region.

"ASEAN is community interacting with other communities along for example the Maritime Silk Road and Belt Initiative so what I am thinking is community to community will lead to a civilization based on shared prosperity as ambassador Xu Bu mentioned."
China and ASEAN tied up a strategic partnership in 2003.
China has been ASEAN's biggest trading partner for the last eight years. 
Meanwhile, ASEAN is China's third largest trading partner.
Trade volume between them reached over 452 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. 
China also sends the largest amount of foreign tourists to ASEAN region.
