China-Africa satellite TV project

Thanks to China's help, people in rural Africa will soon be able to enjoy Satellite TV at home.
In Hulumi, a rural community near the Nigerian capital of Abuja, a launch ceremony was held for the new digital satellite TV service.
StarTimes, a Chinese firm which offers direct-to-home pay TV services, introduced its digital TV service to the locality.
It is part of its pilot project to provide satellite TV in five Nigerian villages.

"Startimes has done one of the best things that have never been experienced in this community. My wife likes to watch movies and entertainment programs while I like to watch the news to know what is current".
The project is a fruit of one of the resolutions of the 2015 summit of Forum On China-Africa Cooperation.

"China has the technology, equipment and skills to help Africa to apply satellite TV, so that local people will be able to enjoy the programs at home."
The Chinese government pledged to provide satellite TV in 10,000 African villages.
