The Original Lobster Festival was held in Long Beach, California over the weekend.

For many years, the festival has become a tradition to over thousands of festival goers annually.

Let's take a look

The festival returned for its 21st year of providing fresh live Maine lobster.

SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): ROY HASSETT, Organizer
"Lobsters get bigger every year. They molt just like snakes, they shed their skins. And they grow into new ones."

SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): JOHN PERRET, Chef
"We have two options, basically two different sizes, one and a quarter to two and a quarter pounds. And we steam them. We do it just like they do it in Maine. Actual steaming, we don't boil. We steam the small ones for 10 minutes and the large ones for 12 minutes."

Besides lobster dishes, live music performance was presented throughout the day.

Meanwhile, children can enjoy animal show and play in inflatable bounce houses.

SOUNDBITE(ENGLISH): HALE HUNT, Visitor
"We're right next to the bay. There are all the different people you can talk to, unlike in a restaurant you usually sit at a table and talk to yourself. This is a social atmosphere. It's different from a restaurant."

The Maine lobster industry in the U.S. is bigger and more lucrative than ever.

Last year, 6,000 licensed lobster fishermen landed more than 130 million pounds of lobster, with a value of over 533 million U.S. dollars.
