Chang Tianping is a clay artist who lives in the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture.

By day, he uses natural materials to make small and exquisite artifacts, popular with the public.
"The charm of clay sculpture was infinite, as a man growing up in NW China, I think it is very important for me to inherit this hand-made skill, and it's inheritance value reflects the essence of the nationalism and time spirit actually."
Clay sculpture has a special place in Chinese folk culture, and is now protected by the state.
In 2006, the craft made China's first list of national intangible cultural heritages.
