Putin on China's CPC Nantional Congress

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the ongoing 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China "unprecedentedly open".

He has also said Russia has "great cooperation plans" with China.
 
Putin made the remarks at a meeting of the Russian think tank Valdai Discussion Club.

"We are very closely following the party congress, which is now held in China. I note the unprecedented openness of this congress."
 
Putin called China a major propeller of the global economy. Although China's GDP expansion slightly slowed to 6.8 percent in the third quarter, he believes the ongoing structural reform will lead to sustainable growth.

"China is Russia's largest trading partner. We have great cooperation plans with China in the areas of space, high-tech and energy. These are the basis for future development of Russia-China relations." 
 
Putin said he and Xi call each other friends publicly.

"When we meet, we publicly call each other friends, this corresponds to the level of our personal relationship. But apart from that, we, of course, maintain interests of our own countries."
 
Putin said on each issue, China and Russia are always able to find consensus and come to an agreement, which turns out to be beneficial to both countries.
