Talk China - Traditional Chinese Medicine

Added On November 6, 2017

At a BRICS Health Ministers Meeting this July, President Xi Jinping sent a letter, saying, quote, "Traditional medicine is an important carrier of fine traditional culture, and plays an important role in encouraging different civilizations to learn from each other and protect people's health."
One example of its popularity is found in the 2016 Rio Olympics, when fans were not only talking about Michael Phelps' outstanding swimming, but also about the curious purple spots on his back.
So what were they? Many people were astounded to know they are actually marks from traditional Chinese cupping. The marks quickly became a media sensation, with images going viral across the world.
Now, like many people, my job often requires me to sit at my desk for long periods of time, which means I often get a bit of backache. So I'm here to try cupping for the first time, and to see what all the fuss is about.
So you must wondering what that feels like. Well, actually it was really rather relaxing, a little bit like a massage. At the beginning I was a little bit skeptical, but who am I to doubt Michael Phelps, eh?
