World Leaders Greet New Year

At the eve of 2018, world leaders delivered speeches to greet the new year,wishing the world peace and prosperity.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the whole nation on New Year on Sunday and wished good luck and prosperity for every family.
"Let the new year bring positive changes to every person and every family. Let everyone be healthy, let children be born and let them bring joy to our lives. Happiness and well being to everyone of you. Peace and prosperity of our great homeland- to our beloved Russia! All best to you, happy new year, 2018!"
In Angela Merkel's new year greeting, the German chancellor said she will be committed to forming a stable government and vowed to work with France in further European integration process.
"For you, my fellow citizens, have charged us politicians with the task
of tending to the challenges of the future, and in doing so, keeping the
needs of all our citizens in mind. I am committed to this task – also
and especially when it comes to the work of quickly forming a stable
government for Germany in the new year."
French President Emmanuel Macron televised his new year speech in the Elysee Palace, urging his citizens to end "irreconcilable divisions" in the coming year and vowed to continue the "profound transformations".
He said, at the national level, the year 2018 will be about the cohesion of the nation.
In his message on the New Year, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is calling for unity among the global community to tackle overwhelming challenges and defend values shared by all.
He said, quote: "on New Year's Day 2018, I am not issuing an appeal. I am issuing an alert, a red alert for our world" ."As we begin 2018, I call for unity. We can settle conflicts, overcome hatred and defend shared values. But we can only do that together."
