The Syrian army broke a siege by ultra-radical rebels near Damascus on Sunday.
The militants had targeted a military base east of the capital.
Syrian army units broke the militants' siege on a Vehicle Management base in the northeastern city of Harasta.
The breakthrough came on the back of a longer military campaign against the al-Qaida-linked Levant Liberation Committee (LLC)and similar groups.
LLC militants had launched major offensive in Harasta to take the base in late December, managing to besiege the facility and capture surrounding buildings.
The attack triggered a counter-offensive by the army and intensified airstrikes in that area.
The base is a major operation center and supply facility for the Syrian forces inside the Eastern Ghouta region.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor group said that 77 rebels were killed during the week-long battles in Harasta.
