Spring Festival celebrations worldwide LA celebrates Chinese New Year

In the U.S., festivities are also getting underway for the Chinese New Year.
 
Lifestyles headed to Los Angeles to take a look. 
 
At Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, guests gather to watch the lighting of Chinese paper light in the shape of a dog.
 
The moment was followed by a traditional dragon and lion dance. 
 
The U.S. has a large population of Chinese - particularly on the West Coast. 
 
According to local officials, the red lanterns are a familiar sight across the country.

"I'm excited to be here. And I'm excited to represent a district that is so rich in diversity. And I know this Lunar New Year is celebrated throughout my district.

"This is something that's gonna become normal for everybody. It is about celebrating the history of the Lunar New Year which goes deep deep into thousands of years. So it's time for us to all recognize that we have the opportunity to embrace."
 
Adding to the festival atmosphere, Chinese artists also made paper cuttings, paper lanterns and wrote Spring Festival couplets for the guests.
