Over the last year, Chile's internet access has grown at one of the fastest rates worldwide.
Chile is showing no signs of slowing down and is investing heavily to further improve its internet.
The deputy secretary of telecommunications said in just the last four years, 51 percent of the population had gained internet access.
Only 36 months after its launch, there are now 9 million people using Chile's new 4G network.

"We leave Chile with a robust policy on matters of digital integration. Already the study of 'The Economist', plus other research, places Chile as the leader, not only in Latin America but also in the world in Internet access and in bridging the digital divide."
Each user in Chile consumes between 4 to 8 gigabytes each day, and more than 50 percent of internet traffic comes from users watching videos.
For this reason, Chile is developing various projects to improve the country's connection. Like the installation of undersea fiber optic cables in the south of the country.
Only four types of undersea cables exist and one of the suppliers, Huawei Marine, will install the cable to boost internet access in Chile.  The project will be completed in 2020.

"Chile today is on the right footing to ensure a framework that generates value for the Chinese industry and I believe that all we have done this year, has been to guarantee a sufficiently strong and robust institutional framework to guarantee this type of investment."
The undersea cable project has raised Chile's interest in China's other global industries, not only in matters of telecommunication, but also in other areas of digital economy.
