2018 Jerusalem Marathon

The 8th annual Jerusalem Marathon kicked off on Friday.
 
This year saw the largest number of runners participated in the race. 
 
Let's take a look. 
 
More than 35,000 people, including some 4,000 from outside Israel, ran in this year's Jerusalem Marathon.
 
Kenyan runner Shadrack Kipkogey finished the marathon first in 2 hours, 21 minutes and 27 seconds.

"This is the third time. I was here 2016, 2017 and this year." 
 
Runners participate in six courses, including the full marathon of 42.2 km, half-marathon, 10 km, 5 km, family race, and community race.

"I think it's an amazing run here. It's a beautiful place here and very difficult this running because you need to run and look for the sky. It's difficult." 
 
SOUNDBITE(HEBREW): SAFEE, Runner from Israel  "It wasn't hard but at the end I started to feel the difficulty of the run. I came out with the result that I am very happy about. This is my first time participating in a marathon for 5km. It was really fun."
