In the U.S. thousands of residents in Washington D.C. lined Constitution Avenue Northwest for the 48th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade.
LIFESTYLES takes you there.
The annual parade took place along Constitution Avenue Northwest.
Thousands gathered, wearing green and celebrating in line with tradition.
The two-hour special parade involved floats, marching bands, pipe bands, the military, police, and fire departments.
This year's theme was "Showcasing DC Irish Culture".
While many enjoy the St. Patrick's holiday as a fun day to relax, the younger group of parade-goers weren't left out and received plenty of candy.
The aim of St. Patrick's Parade is to foster the understanding of and celebrate the Irish culture in America.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade has been held annually in Washington, D.C. since 1971.
