China 1st overseas center for BeiDou

This week, China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) reached a new stage in its progress... its first overseas center was officially inaugurated in Tunisia
The China-Arab States BDS/GNSS Center is a pilot project between China and the Tunisia-based Arab Information and Communication Technology Organization (AICTO). It aims to promote the global application of the Beidou satellite system.
The Director of China's Satellite Navigation Office said China looks forward to stronger cooperation with the Arab countries, in key areas such as satellite navigation and space sciences.

"Both sides attach great importance to the construction of the Center. People can better understand what Beidou is, why we use BeiDou, what kind of benefits BeiDou will bring to economic and social development, as well as China's attitude of international cooperation, and will to promote the Belt and Road Initiative."
Secretary general of the AICTO, said the organization will intensify its cooperation with China in the field of satellite navigation, to boost technological advancement and economic development in the region.
