UN lauds China for support Syrian students

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund,  has lauded a "generous donation" from China that helped 86,000 school-age Syrian refugee children in Lebanon last year.
UNICEF representative in Lebanon voiced her appreciation at the signing ceremony of a protocol between the UN body and China on Thursday.
In February 2017, the Chinese government provided 1 million dollars of  financial assistance for UNICEF's children's fund.
The funding was aimed to provide essential supplies to refugee students, including winter clothes and stationery.
Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon said the program was successfully completed and all supplies were delivered.

"The Chinese government will continue to make efforts to ease the humanitarian situation of Syrian refugees, and promote a political solution to the Syrian crisis."
Since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, the number of Syrian refugee school-age children in Lebanon has continued to increase, placing a heavy burden on Lebanese education and medical institutions.
According to UNICEF, the Chinese donation paid for clothes, school supplies and tuition fees for Syrian refugee students.
