A Mexican official has said he believes the governments of China and the US can resolve their trade differences.

Economy Report has more.

"I think the most important thing is sitting down at the table, arriving at agreements because China has a very strong economy and it is getting stronger. And I think that it must be well valued for what that implies--really, the great market that it represents, the culture it has, its history."

The official also said it's very important for Mexico to diversify its  trade with China.

"Mexico has been very dependent on the US and I think this position that we're seeing right now, what we're experiencing in our relationship with the US also makes us accelerate and deepen the diversification of our trade with China."
