In the U.S., seven inmates were killed and at least 17 others were seriously injured during  a prison riot in South Carolina on Sunday.
South Carolina Department of Corrections reported on social media that clashes between inmates took place at the Lee Correctional Institution in Bishopville on Sunday evening.
The statement said order was restored on Monday and no prison officers were wounded.
Investigations are underway by the department's police service unit and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
The prison has been in operation for 25 years and currently holds some 1,700 prisoners. It has seen breakouts of deadly violence between inmates before.
