Last Saturday's tripartite missile attack in Syria has triggered a flurry of mixed reactions across the Middle East.

Iranian citizens called the strikes a "crime" and prayed for the tortured country and its people to find peace.

SOUNDBITE(PERSIAN): MAHMOOD, Iranian citizen
"The U.S.-led attack on Syria is a crime. The U.S. government has done a very harmful action on innocent people in Syria. It's unfair that the U.S., France and Britain launched the attack before waiting for the facts to come out. Iranian people and Syrian people are friends. We can not accept the excuse of so called chemical weapons in Syria."

SOUNDBITE(PERSIAN): MARYAM, Iranian citizen
" The missile attack on Syria is an unethical and inhuman action. In my opinion, it is an illegal action and the U.S. ignored the United Nations when carrying out this attack. I think the whole world will agree that the attack has damaged peace in Syria and the middle east.”

People from Egypt and Turkey agreed that the strikes were a violation of international norms.

SOUNDBITE(ARABIC): MAHMOUD ELSAYED, Egyptian citizen
"I am against the strikes that the U.S. , UK and France launched on Syria. If there is a problem, there are many other solutions. The UN has the right to investigate and find a proper solution. Also we have international laws that everybody should respect."

SOUNDBITE(TURKISH): CEMAL GURSOY, Turkish resident
"I personally do not agree with any intervention of any country. I am a humanist. It would be the best, of course, if the U.S. wouldn't have intervened in Syria at all."

In Iraq, thousands of Iraqis and civil rights activists rallied in downtown Baghdad to protest against U.S. movement on Syria.

SOUNDBITE(ARABIC): JABRA AL-TAEI, Protester
"We strongly stand with the Syrian people and have gathered here to denounce the aggression against Syria. We want to say that the attack which affected both women and children in Syria is a tragedy."
