First Digital China Summit - Jack Ma on core technology

The first Digital China Summit has opened in Fuzhou, capital of east China's Fujian Province.
 
At the Summit, Jack ma, founder and chairman of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, said that large enterprises should shoulder greater responsibilities and speed up to make breakthroughs in core technologies that will benefit society.
 
Several well-known entrepreneurs have made speeches at the event.
 
Among them, Jack Ma, founder and chairman of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, said China needs a deeper understanding of Internet development in this critical period of the information revolution.
 
He said that in the coming 30 years, data will become a means of production, calculation will become productivity, and the internet will be measured by the relations of production.
 
He added large enterprises should shoulder greater responsibilities and speed up to make breakthroughs in core technology that will benefit society.

"I think, large enterprises should not be evaluated by market value, but by the responsibilities they shoulder. They should not be evaluated by market share, but by the core technology. It means that core technology is a measure of real strength."
 
Ma said that the trend of digitalization is irresistible and globalization will be unstoppable.

"We should trust young people, trust technology, trust innovation and the future. No one country or company can solve every problem. We have to become open to the world and embrace changes."
 
Ma also said that a law on the digital economy is urgently needed to guide the development of Internet companies in China.
 
About 800 people, including officials, representatives of industrial organizations and experts, are attending the Summit.
