The Royal Airforce, or RAF, had its official 100th birthday on 1 April this year.

Tuesday's celebrations were organized for one hundred days after the date, in order to celebrate the RAF's centenary and look ahead to the next 100 years.
Over 1,000 RAF servicemen and women performed a ceremonial parade on The Mall in central London. Almost 300 personnel lined the route, including representatives from a variety of roles and RAF stations, showing the full diversity of the current Air Force.
The RAF display also constituted the largest concentration of military aircraft in recent history.
The number of personnel and planes on show meant the event proved popular with Londoners.

"I heard about it, my daughter told us it was happening. So, we thought rather than staying at home watching it on television, we've come and it's been fantastic."
The RAF's achievements and sacrifices were also commemorated through a wreath-laying ceremony at the RAF Memorial in Embankment and a service at Westminster Abbey.
"So, this is a very big celebration for us because my wife's father was in the Air Force with the rescue, and my mother was in the royal air force as well. And in fact, she was on duty when the second world war was declared, and she was the one that took the message in and told the airbase what was happening."
The event brought together servicemen and women from across the country, with RAF personnel from all around Britain participating in preparations for the showcase event in central London.
