All 12 boys and their coach have been safely rescued from a flooded cave in northern Thailand after being trapped for 18 days.

Thai authorities showed the first video of the boys recuperating at Chiang Rai hospital on Wednesday.

The boys are shown lying on hospital beds waving and making victory signs to the camera.

Their families were also shown waving at them through a glass window.

A senior doctor who showed the videos at a press conference confirmed they are all in good health.

The boys do not appear to shell-shocked or traumatised despite being trapped for a full 18 days inside a dark cave before the risky rescue operation began.

The mission has proved deadly. A former Thai Navy SEAL died while helping to install oxygen tanks in preparation for bringing the team out of the cave.

Experts have warned of possible long-term trauma from the experience. But medical officials have been positive about their condition, saying they are eating normally and even asking for chocolate.
