Chinese-funded rehab center opens in the Philippines

In the Philippines, a rehabilitation center donated by a Chinese foundation has been unveiled to support the Philippine government's anti-drug campaign.
The Northern Mindanao Wellness and Reintegration Center is a modern drug rehabilitation center in southern region of the Philippines. 
It was donated by a Chinese-funded foundation, and aimed at supporting the Philippine government-led anti-drug campaign.
Covering an area of over 11 thousand square meters. the center has a bed capacity of 576, mess hall, workout area, recreational area and basketball courts. It can accommodate 600 drug dependents.
The foundation spent around 9.5 million U.S. dollars on the center's construction, and about 3.8 million dollars on the equipment.
The center's opening ceremony was attended by Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte. He thanked China for lending its support to his administration's campaign against illicit drugs.
Presidential spokesperson praised the close ties between China and the Philippines.
