A former Trump campaign aide has been sentenced to 14 days in prison for lying to federal investigators during the Russia probe.
World News has more.
George Papadopoulos is the first former campaign aide to be sentenced in the ongoing Russia probe, which is led by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Papadopoulos was also sentenced to one year of supervised release, 200 hours of community service, and given a fine of 9,500 U.S. dollars.
He has pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI about his Russia-related contacts.
Trump has sought to distance himself from Papadopoulos, saying he doesn't know the former member of the foreign policy advisory panel to his campaign.
So far, criminal proceedings against over 30 individuals, including several former Trump campaign aides, have been initiated.
