China's first proboscis monkey and her new baby made a rare public appearance during China's National Holiday. Take a look.
Changlong Zoo in Guangzhou province became the proud caretaker of China's first proboscis monkey last September.
One year later, the zoo also became the home of the first proboscis monkey born in China.
The monkey family made a public appearance during the National Holiday.
To ensure the baby has sufficient milk, the zoo's staff is giving the mom a large supply of high-quality leaves and other nutritious food.
The baby monkey looks different from her parents. Young proboscis monkeys have black fur while adults are yellow.
Proboscis monkeys come from the southeast Asian island of Borneo in Indonesia and are considered to be an endangered species.
