The first ever Nepal-China Expo has kicked off in Nepal, displaying all sorts of handicrafts and helping to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
The landmark event is named Nepal-China Expo 2018, and is running under the theme: “A Showcase of Trade and Culture”.
The show is being held in Nepal’s Lalitpur district, the art capital known for its wide range of handicrafts, which are usually exported to China.
The five-day expo is organized by the Arniko Culture and Business Promotion Society in cooperation with the Beijing-based China Nepal Culture Exchange Center.
Nepali Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumari Gyawali said that such expos contribute largely to boosting Nepal's trade and economy.
“Since Lalitpur is rich in handicrafts, including stone and wood carvings, such events are very important to promote trade between the two countries.”
The expo features 100 stalls, with representatives from Nepal and China.
Chinese companies are showcasing products such as garments, electronic items, accessories and more, while Nepali companies are displaying stone, wood and metal carvings, pashmina, textiles, jewelry, garments and many other items.
Besides the display and sale of products, the event also features food fests, cultural performances and fashion shows. The expo runs until October the 9th.
