Melbourne International Arts Festival

The 2018 Melbourne International Arts Festival inaugurated earlier this week. More than just a celebration of artists, this year's event is a visual feast for visitors of all ages.
The Melbourne International Arts Festival has been an important event on the Australian calendar since 1986. This year, the festival will last nearly the whole month of October.
Visitors can look forward to a spectacular line-up of dance and theatrical performances, visual art, architecture, classical and contemporary music, as well as free activities run by global and local artists.
Britain's leading contemporary circus company "NoFit State" set up camp in the Royal Botanic Gardens for the only Australian performances of LEXICON, an impressive production that celebrates the 250-year history of the circus ring.
Festival go-ers can also experience the FIRE GARDENS after dark, a fire-burning spectacle that illuminates the Gardens on four special nights.
And for those who dare to watch, a 360 degree virtual reality thriller by Theatre Works takes viewers on a roller coaster of imagination.
Festival Artistic Director Jonathan Holloway says this year's festival opens doors into parallel worlds, into a universe of real and imagined journeys; and stories and adventures far beyond our everyday.
