Two weeks after the high-speed rail between the mainland and Hong Kong being put into use...

Accroding to the rail service operator MTR Corporation, the newly-launched high-speed rail between the mainland and Hong Kong has recorded about 880,000 passenger trips.

The Hong Kong Section of Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link began service on Sept. 23.

In two weeks, it has witnessed some 880,000 passenger trips to and from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station.

From Sept. 28 to Oct. 7, the high-speed rail served around 650,000 passenger journeys between Hong Kong and different cities in the Chinese mainland during the National Day holiday.

The cumulative number of tickets sold has exceeded one million.

MTR says the high-speed rail provides comfortable and convenient cross-boundary train services for passengers, and train services have been generally smooth.

The cross-boundary high-speed rail connects Hong Kong with 44 stations in the Chinese mainland without interchange, including six short-haul stations and 38 long-haul stations.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong West Kowloon Station has become a new tourist site, attracting locals and visitors to take snap shots with the main building of the station.
