China donates electrical devices to Syria

China has donated a total of 800 electrical power transformers and electric cables to the Syrian government.
The donation aims to help reconstruct damaged infrastructure in the war-torn country.
The official ceremony for the donation was held in Syria's coastal city of Latakia on Wednesday.
Ma Xuliang, charge d'affaires at the Chinese embassy in Damascus said electrical supplies are important in improving infrastructure in Syria.

These aid supplies can play an important role in improving Syrian people’s living conditions, as well as infrastructure, and public services." 
Ma said that the aid is part of efforts to help Syria's reconstruction process, and it's expected that more aid will be given in the future.

"In the future, we'll also provide more humanitarian aid according to Syria’s needs, and within our ability." 
For his part, Nidal Qarmoushi, the deputy electricity minister Syria, introduced the electrical equipment and said the assistance comes at an important time, as it will support Syria's reconstruction process.

The electricity sector in Syria has been largely affected by the more than seven-year-long war in the country with recent estimates placing losses in the sector at four billion U.S. dollars.
