Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with the U.S. special envoy for Syria James Jeffrey on Monday to discuss Iran's military presence in Syria.

The prime minister's office said in a statement that the two discussed developments in Syria and their efforts to curtail Iranian aggression.
Netanyahu thanked Jeffrey for his efforts and lauded U.S. President Donald Trump for re-imposing sanctions on Iran.
Earlier in the day, the White House restored all the U.S. sanctions lifted under the 2015 nuclear deal signed between Iran and the world powers during the Obama administration.
Israel has reportedly carried out dozens of airstrikes in neighboring Syria despite its official denial of involvement in the Syrian war.
Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that Israel will not allow Iranian military presence in Syria.
