Argentine FM highlights G20's role

Argentine Foreign Affairs Minister Jorge Faurie has said that G20 plays a key role in forging a consensus on trade and global development issues.

Argentine FM Jorge Faurie said the event, which will gather the heads of state and government from the world's leading developed and emerging nations, is an important multilateral mechanism in which China has had "constructive" participation.

"We borrowed from the experience of countries that hosted prior to Argentina. Obviously, we particularly value China's experience."

"China's positions, which we always understand as constructive positions, are designed to help forge the future of issues that concern us all, such as climate change and the progress of international trade."
The minister said the summit, the first hosted by a South American country, presents "a unique opportunity" for the country.

The G20 Summit will take place from November 30th to December 1st.
