Boao Forum meeting highlights Europe-Asia bond

Officials at the "Boao Forum for Asia Rome Conference" said that Europe and Asia should strengthen ties to enhance cooperation and communication and defend prosperity and economic growth from protectionism.

Themed "Asia-Europe Leaders' Cooperation Dialogue," the conference was organized by the BFA and an Italian think tank called "European House - Ambrosetti".
About 300 experts, policymakers and business representatives from 15 countries in Europe as well as the Asia Pacific attended the conference in Rome on Tuesday and Wednesday.
BFA Secretary-General Li Baodong said in his opening remarks Europe and Asia have their own strengths and weakness during the development.
He noted in order to bring the economic prosperity and stability?to the?two continents, Asia and Europe should embrace the tradition of sincere friendship and enhance mutual cooperation.
BFA Vice Chairman Zhou Xiaochuan called for global joint efforts to uphold multilateralism and to push forward WTO reforms in the face of rising sentiments against globalization marked by populism and protectionism.
The former governor of China's central bank said the world needs to build a strong global financial security network and carry out the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative to boost regional connectivity and globalization.
