Alibaba Cloud launches its second data center in Indonesia

Alibaba Cloud launched a second data center in Indonesia on Wednesday, ten months after inaugurating its first Indonesian data center.

Strong demand in Indonesia has driven the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group to double its service capacity in just ten months.
The two data centers provide high quality service and strong disaster recovery capacity to support Indonesia's growing cloud ecosystem.

"Any kind of company can easily adopt the cloud technology so that is why we double our capacity. Also, for some company that already our customers they want to perform disaster recovery and they need another data center to do this kind of practice that is why we have another data center."
Besides launching the second data center, the company also recently launched the Alibaba Cloud Internet Champion Global Accelerator Program. Both have helped the Indonesian government develop a national digital economy.
Indonesian Communications and Information Technology Minister said the government welcomes investment from Alibaba.

"We welcome recent technology company but not the company, the foreign investors that only focusing to using Indonesia as their market but the foreign investors that can also create added values, in particular in developing the human capital."
Rudiantara also acknowledged the quality of education at Alibaba Academy and encouraged the Chinese technology giant to invest more in developing Indonesia's human capital.
