This year's Lux Helsinki light festival wrapped up on Wednesday. The five-day event had twelve main installations, which formed a 2.5-kilometer walking route through the western part of the city center.
Let's take a look.
Visitors gathered after sunset, as light installations brightened up Helsinki's winter sky.
More than 500,000 visitors came to see the festive lights during the five day event.
The event stresses the importance of light in city planning. It also encourages people to enjoy art together.

"This LUX architecture series highlights the importance of urban lighting in our cities, so we also like to highlight how important it is to have a good lighting in our environment and especially in the cities."
The festival gives artists a great opportunity to create art and change negative perceptions about the dark.
Visitors could also pop by several museums and restaurants along the walking route. There was also a place where young artists could present their own works of art.
