China and France have agreed to launch several new infrastructure and ecology projects under the Belt and Road initiative.
Chinese Ambassador to France Zhai Jun announced the news on Thursday while attending the second Paris Forum on New Silk Roads.
He said the initiative has become a cooperative platform widely appreciated on a global scale.
Also attending the forum, former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said the Belt and Road initiative favors maintaining multilateralism and international cooperation.
He added that France and Europe should participate in the initiative in a "more active" way.
Proposed by China in 2013, the Belt and Road initiative aims to build a trade and infrastructure network based on ancient land and maritime trade routes that connects Asia with Europe and Africa.
It includes the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.
