TOURISM REVENUE UP

According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, domestic tourism revenue increased by 8.2 percent to about 76 billion U.S. dollars during the holiday.
 
A total of 415 million trips were made across the country over the period, an increase of 7.6 percent year on year.
 
Many Chinese holiday go-ers enjoyed traditional culture during the holiday. 40 percent of travelers visited museums while away from work.
 
RETAIL, CATERING SALES RISE
 
A seperate report showed that the combined sales of retail and catering goods and services also went up by 8.5 percent, reaching a new high of about 150 billion U.S. dollars.
 
Chinese consumers paid more attention to product quality this year. Companies reported massive sales growth for products such as organic food, smart home appliances and new electronic devices.
 
According to the Ministry of Commerce, the supply of daily necessities remained sufficient, while prices remained generally stable.
 
ENTRY, EXIT TRIPS INCREASE
 
Meanwhile, border inspection agencies across China handled more than 12.5 million entry and exit trips, an increase of nearly 11 percent from last year.
 
Aside from going home, the most popular destination spots included Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States.
